About Margie Loving

Margie Loving, is a children's book author and illustrator, a former professor, curriculum developer, and has maintained a massage license for over 28 years.

She has been a Certified Reiki Master for over 8 years and has recently worked with Cancer patients at the Burzynski Clinic.  Loving's interest in Reiki developed after she learned that the founder of Reiki, Master Usui, had many careers.  One of which was a missionary where he studied to be a Presbyterian Minister.  He stated, "Jesus says we can heal people like he did and do greater things and I want to know how!"  Then his journey gifted him with the technique known as Reiki, or the Energy from God.

Margie's higher degree is in Education: Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation.  She wrote a book after her young daughter told her that she was afraid to sleep at night.

When her daughter was scared, Loving “would tell her that there are angels all around, that she’s never alone, and that I asked them to protect her.”

Her children loved to draw angels – and they also love fairies. Combining angels, fairies and her educational expertise to write a book just seemed logical to Loving. Especially after seeing the movie “Fairy Tales” which is based on a true story.

Growing up in El Paso, Texas, she loved to read books, and had a charmed childhood that included riding show horses, regular weekend visits to a second home in Ruidoso, New Mexico and winter skiing trips to Ruidoso. With her parents, Loving also loves to play golf.

She left El Paso to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in psychology and minored in speech communications. After graduation, she worked at a Montessori school and obtained a license to practice massage and later became a Reiki Master and CE Provider.

Loving continued her studies and completed a doctorate in Education at Syracuse University in New York before returning to Texas. While obtaining her graduate degree, she worked in administration of an AP Program at Syracuse University to pay for her education.

The Houston resident taught graduate students until she had children, served as an adult-care facility administrator and worked as a Program Manager for Software Training at Dell Computers before turning to motherhood and writing.

Professor, massage therapist, writer and illustrator

Despite a busy life as a mother, she is a practicing massage therapist, writing consultant, does a lot of gardening, practices yoga, illustrates her own books and plays piano with her daughters.

Loving is dedicated to the well-being of children around the world and donates her book proceeds to non-profit Save the Children.
